At Hillbrook, each child is known and valued for their unique strengths, passions, aspirations, and areas of growth that make them a dynamic member of our community.
Small class sizes, bolstered by a robust co-teaching model, creates a classroom culture of hands-on and interactive educational experiences that challenge and bring out the best in our students, fostering a lifelong curiosity and genuine love of learning. Each day is different at our school. In the morning, students might find themselves outdoors, exploring the creek and the 14.2 acres that span our campus with iPads or magnifying glasses. In the afternoon, they might spend time in our art rooms, crafting a masterpiece on a 3-D laser printer. Every day promises the excitement of discovery, the comfort of inclusivity at every step, and the joy of a unique Hillbrook–and childhood–experience alongside a supportive community of classmates, teachers, and staff.

Some ways we enliven this:

  • Differentiated reading materials for various skill levels; guided reading in grades JK–2 including multiple texts and supplementary materials that reflect a variety of cultures, home settings, and abilities.
  • Independent research, beginning in 2nd grade, resulting in individualized depth and breadth of product.
  • Collaborative work in small groups to extend the thinking and skills of all learners.
  • Multi-age reading groups in 1st/2nd grades and 3rd/4th grades.
  • Varied sections of math in 7th and 8th grades for challenge and support, including pre-Algebra and Algebra in 7th grade, and Algebra and Geometry in 8th grade.
