Grandparents & Special Friends Day has become one of the most beloved traditions for students and families, an event that brings different generations together on our campus for a unique opportunity to experience a small part of what it means to be a Hillbrook student.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day 2024:
JK-8TH GRADE
Friday, November 22nd
11:30am - 2:30pm
Los Gatos Campus

Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to join JK-8th grade students on campus from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm for a celebration of family and community that includes a luncheon and classroom visits.

Invite your guest now! Once we’ve received guest information, a virtual invitation will be sent out to collect RSVPS. Responses are requested by Friday, November 15th.

Upper School Grandparents and Special Friends Day is coming in January - more details shared soon!

What is Grandparents & Special Friends Day (GPSF)?

JK-8th Grade GPSF is a chance for your student and a grandparent or special friend to connect on campus and see what life is like at Hillbrook. Guests join us for an afternoon full of activities: a luncheon, time with your grandchild or special friend, classroom visit or a trip to the Hub, and a sing along with your Hillbrook student.

Every student is encouraged to invite someone to campus! If your student isn’t sure who to invite or feels lonely because their extended family is unable to attend in person, the Hillbrook team will make sure that every student is supported during this event. Reach out to advancement@hillbrook.org with any questions about guest information.

Upper School grandparents and special friends can look forward to an invitation for the Upper School Exhibition of Learning on Friday, January 10th in San Jose.

Who can be a “Special Friend?”

How many guests can my student have?

Multiple guests are welcome - we just ask that you register them so we can collect an accurate headcount and contact information -it helps us plan for adequate shuttles, food, activities, and volunteers on campus.

Have more than one student at Hillbrook? No problem! GPSF Day is designed with some flexibility. We will give guests an event schedule for each of your students, and guests can travel between classrooms during the rotations to see each student in their grade level. Volunteers will be available to help navigate the campus.

For Mobility Needs:
The Hillbrook campus is quite walkable, but it is somewhat spread out. We will have several golf carts available to help guests with limited mobility reach the different campus locations where the event takes place. Please indicate that need on your guest invitation form.

If you have any limitations that would make taking the bus difficult, please feel free to drive up and park on campus. If you would like us to reserve a spot closest to the action or need additional assistance, please contact our Advancement Office at advancement@hillbrook.org.

Volunteering

We need dozens of volunteers to make this event a success, and volunteering is a great way for parents to attend the event! We especially need volunteers who are able to help our team set up, serve food, check in guests, clean up, and guide visitors to different areas of campus that afternoon. If you are able to help, please sign up for a shift. The volunteer spreadsheet will be shared in Hillbrook Happenings at the end of October.

We ask that volunteers please walk or ride shuttles to and from campus.
