Our students are immersed in a closely-knit community culture that promotes collaboration, problem solving, and the practice of conflict resolution skills to provide an open, nurturing, and inclusive environment where each member can learn, grow, and thrive.
Every student is invited to share a check-in during "Morning Meeting," the first opportunity built in to the school day where our learners can express their thoughts, connect with peers, and gain the support of teachers who will meet them where they are throughout their day. Teachers and students might perform check-ins throughout the day to gauge the needs of the class as well as each individual member of that class to facilitate a healthy learning environment where each child is known, heard, and valued.
Our social-emotional learning philosophies and practies are built around Responsive Classroom
in the lower school and Developmental Designs
in the middle school. Each member of the faculty is trained in these approaches, and classroom experiences in conflict resolution, empathy, self-care, and more are carefully interwoven throughout the academic day to promote the lifelong health, wellness, and success of our learners.
