Kindergarten Experiences Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the Montgomery Bus Boycott

This morning in kindergarten's Reach Beyond Block, the class experienced a social studies unit focusing on peacemakers who have brought about positive social change in society. They role-played the events of Rosa Park's ride on the bus, the meeting led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Montgomery Improvement Associations, and the bus boycott.
 
The children reflected on their thoughts and learning in an art project that followed the role-play and discussion, where the class was joined by a friend of Ms. Covington who helped champion for equal rights around the time of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
