Hillbrook Community Marches in Support of the Black Lives Matter Movement

By The Scott Center for Social Entrepreneurship
Today’s peaceful protest in Los Gatos was a strong demonstration of support in our community for the Black Lives Matter movement. The local high school students who organized this effort stepped up as inspiring leaders this morning, urging the community to see this as the first step in long-term, committed, actively anti-racist work in the Los Gatos community. Thank you to the speakers who shared their stories and gave us the opportunity to listen and learn. We are thrilled to share that approximately thirty Hillbrook community members in attendance.

"I, along with some of my colleagues, have decided together to stand in solidarity and attend the protest and join the fight against racism and all of its injustices," said Kristen Coleman, 1st grade teacher.

We also want to recognize that there are many ways to show allyship and resistance: art activism, donations, parenting, organizing, voting and so much more. Protesting is certainly one among many. We are inspired by the work we see happening in all of these areas.

Here are some resources gathered by school leadership and the Scott Center for Social Entrepreneurship to help families navigate this conversation at home:
