 | Breakthrough Silicon Valley (BSV) is the local chapter of a national non-profit organization that supports highly motivated and academically talented, but under-resourced, students in their effort to get into rigorous academic high schools and colleges.
Hillbrook is honored to host BSV on our campus each summer. More than 100 students entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grades use our faciliities during an intensive six-week summer program. Students are selected for BSV after a rigorous application process and commitment of parental involvement. Most graduates of BSV are the first in their families to attend college.
By hosting BSV, Hillbrook joins a group of innovative, forward-thinking independent schools around the country that host Breakthrough programs, including Germantown Friends School in Pennsylvania, the Blake School in Minnesota, and University High School in San Francisco. Like these schools, Hillbrook’s involvement sends a powerful message about our school’s broader public purpose and our commitment to living the vision we set for our students – to reach beyond themselves to make a difference in the world. |
